Stacked Candles



Stacked candles can be made with the help of cookie cutters.
1 Pour melted wax (check out procedure in the blog) in a deep tray or vessel.
2 Cut out various shapes when the wax is semi-hard, make a hole in the centre with a nail .
3 Leave the wax to harden , the shapes will come out easily.
4 Thread the wick through each shape , the wick can be knotted at one end .
5 Leave 1/2" wick at the top.
One can use bottle caps as cutters to make round shapes or use a knife to cut out shapes .

Easter Candles




These cute Easter candles can be made easily with the eggs available at home .
METHOD
1 Break a readymade candle , retain wick , collect wax.
2 Empty an egg by making a hole at the top pointed end.
3 Wash several times with water giving a final rinse with vinegar solution. Dry the egg shell overnite .
4 Melt the wax in a double boiler , add wax crayon for color if desired .
5 Pour the wax into the dry egg shell .Keep in a small bowl so that it doesnt topple over .
6 Insert the wick when the wax is nearly set .
7 Let the wax set for 7-8 hours .
8 Peel off the egg shell and take out the candle .
9 Level the candle by rubbing on a hot plate /pan .
10 Cut the wick , leaving 1/4 th of an inch .

Easy Water Candle




Water Candles are really eye-catching and a great talking point . One can put any decorative piece inside the glass including plastic flowers , stones, beads, sand and even real fruits and flowers !
MATERIALS REQUIRED
1 Wax ,addiitives or a store bought candle
2 Plastic, glass , ceramic decorative pieces or even real fruits and flowers as they will not be coming in contact with the flame anyway.
3 Break a candle , save the wick or follow candle making instructions in the blog
4 Heat wax in an old pan or in a double boiler carefully
5 Select glassware , wipe clean.
6 Put in items of your choice , you can also glue them , fill 3/4 with water
7 Pour the melted wax slowly and carefully over the ENTIRE surface of water like a layer.This is very important .
8 Keep wicks ready. Push in the wicks in the semi-hard wax layer , it will cool faster as its in water !
9 Let the candle set , do not shift it.Do not try to clean any spills .
10 Clean the wax spills from the glassware if any after the candle has set.

Enjoy !
PS- The ENTIRE surface of the water has to be layered with wax so that all the items remain UNDER it and do not catch fire.

Easy Wax Diyas






Diwali is the festival of lights and earthen diyas are still very popular and readily available. Its quite exciting to see beautiful diyas in various shapes and sizes being sold in the market.Traditionally diyas are filled with oil but we can fill them with wax and have a spill-free Diwali !
PROCEDURE
Select diyas , wash and dry them . This will get rid of the dust and dirt. Now paint them in colors of your choice.One can use poster or acrylic colors.
1 If you are unable to get candlemaking material ,break a store bought candle carefully keeping the wick intact.
2 Heat the wax pieces in an old aluminium pot till wax turns liquid.
3 Pour it in the painted diyas.
4 Cut pieces of wick according to the number of the diyas.
Push in the wick when the wax is slightly set.
5 Let the wax harden.
6 Sprinkle some sparkle on it to give a festive look.
7 Enjoy !
PS - All additives are already in the store bought candle so no need to add anything ! Isnt it fun !!!!

Easy Candle making


Many people are interested in making candles but find it difficult to get the materials required.
But one can make floating candles with the things found at home-
1 Store bought candles
2 Wax crayons
3 Tart, idli moulds or small katoris
Never ever leave wax unattended while heating it. Switch off the gas, stove if you have to attend to any other work. Heated wax is highly inflammable.
METHOD
1 Cover your work area with newspaper
2 Break a store bought candle carefully , we need the wick intact !
3 Prepare the molds by wiping clean , and lightly grease with veg oil.
4 Warm the wax pieces in an old aluminium pan , you can keep the pan on a bigger pan or tava .
5 Put in a piece of wax crayon of your choice if you want colored candles.
6 Do not overheat the wax as it may catch fire.
7 Pour it in the ready molds carefully.
8 Let it set for sometime.
9 Cut small pieces of the wick and insert into the semi-hard wax.
10 Wait for the floating candles to harden , pop out and enjoy !
TIPS
We do not need any additives as everything is already in the readymade candle.
Be creative and dress up your beauties with sparkle, 3D colors.

Easy Wax Diyas


Made some wax diyas ,first I painted them with acrylic colors then filled them with colored wax. Definitely not at all messy like diyas filled with oil !! Look quite pretty too!
